ミラノに拠点を置くDesign Libraryは、デザインに関わる人に様々なコンテンツを提供してくれる、デザイナー支援型のスペースです。2006年4月のミラノ・サローネ開催にあわせて、フオーリ・サローネのメッカともいえるトルトーナ地区にほど近い、サボーナの通り沿いにオープンしました。2007年11月には上海に2番目のスペースをオープンし、今後、ロンドン、ストックホルム、イスタンブールに開設が予定されています。デザインに関する充実した資料の提供はもちろんのこと、デザインに関わる人が、ここで出会い交流をすることに目的を置いています。
ADI（イタリア工業デザイン協会）の支援のもと、デザインのオンラインサービスを提供するdesign-italiaと、RECAPITO MILANESEの主宰によって生まれました。そのスポンサーには、イタリアのデザインをリードするファニチャーや照明、家電などの蒼々たるブランドが名を連ねており、ライブラリーが所蔵する貴重なカタログや資料の提供、快適なスペースの設備にも協力しています。
デザインに関わる人は、ミラノや上海を訪れた際には必ず立ち寄ってほしいスペースです。
The Design Library in Milan is a space created to support designers. The library opened its doors on April 2006 in time for the Saloni Milano. It is located on Via Savova just around the corner from the Tortona district, hub of Fuori Salone. A second location opened in November 2007 in Shanghai, and there are future plans for London, Stockholm and Istanbul. The libraries are meant to provide opportunities for exchanges among design professionals, not to mention a well-stocked store of design-related material. The project is headed by Recapito Milanese and design-italia, an online design services provider, and supported by ADI (Italian Association for Industrial Design). The long list of sponsors includes many leading Italian furniture, lighting and housing appliance brands who have contributed to the valuable collection of catalogs and material and the pleasant surroundings. The library is a must-visit for the design-minded who find themselves in Milan or Shanghai.

デザインに関する雑誌、書籍、年鑑やカタログの閲覧ができるスペース。
書籍／20世紀初頭からの貴重なデザイン書籍などの寄贈品を含め、約2,000冊の書籍を所蔵しています。雑誌／イタリアを中心としたコレクションは5,000冊に及びます。Domus、Casabella、Modoなどは、バックナンバーを完璧に揃えており、他に類を見ないコレクションです。
カタログ／イタリアデザインの歴史に影響を与えた、KartellやDriadeの過去のカタログから現在のものまで、とても興味深いコレクションを有しています。
A place to browse design-related magazines, books, almanacs and catalogs.
Books: The collection numbers approximately 2,000 volumes, including donated rare design books dating from the early twentieth century.
Magazines: The collection, centering on Italian publications, amounts to five thousand.
Particularly impressive are the unprecedented complete back issue collections of Domus,
Casabella, Modo, etc.
Catalog: The intriguing collection includes catalogs of highly influential Italian brands such as Kartell from the past to the present.
Programme
Design Libraryが主催するイベントプログラムに「デザインの木曜日」があります。活躍している著名デザイナーや、違ったフィールドの専門家を招いて、集まったメンバーがそれぞれの立場から、現代のデザインをディスカッションするイベントです。（毎週木曜日の21:00から。スケジュールはDesign Libraryのサイトを確認してください）
One event the Design Library regularly hosts is "Thursday Design Evenings" when famous designers and specialists from differing fields are invited to discuss contemporary design. (Every Thursday from 21:00. Please confirm schedule on Design Library website.)

年会費25ユーロで会員になれます。詳しくはDesign LibraryのサイトのRegistrationを確認してください。ミラノ、上海のDesign Libraryで、すぐに会員になることができ、これからオープンする全てのスペースを利用できます。

A place to hold conferences, events, presentations and cultural exchanges.
There are lounge, cafeteria, and internet facilities, and leading edge audiovisual systems are available for film and music events. The space has already been used by sponsor corporations and members for new product presentations, events and various other occasions.
