ミラノの中心部から電車で北へ10分の距離にあるボビーザ地区は、今、最も開発が盛んなエリアです。元は工業地帯でしたが、ミラノ工科大学やブレラ美術大学が進出し、アートとデザインの街としての再開発が進行しています。

現在この地域には、二つのデザインと美術の大学とともに、イタリアのデザインにおける中心的存在であるトリエンナーレ・ディ・ミラノのアート部門ともいえる、トリエンナーレ・ボビーザも期間限定で展示会場を設けています。

ゾーナ・ボビーザは、ミラノサローネにおけるフオーリ・サローネ（市内イベント）のメッカ、トルトーナ地区のオーガナイザーであるゾーナ・トルトーナの姉妹組織です。同組織を主宰するRECAPITO MILANESEが活動の主体をアー

トに置いて新たに立ち上げた非営利団体で、トリエンナーレ・ボビーザと隣り合わせに位置し、廃業した工場の建物を利用して、アートやデザイン、音楽などのイベントやユニークなワークショップを企画・運営しています。全ての運営はスポンサー企業の協賛によって行われており、施設内にある家具やキッチンなども全て企業の提供によるものです。新製品のマーケティングリサーチや、製品開発の実験的なアプローチなどにも利用できるため、企業にとっても充分にメリットがあるようです。

また、敷地内の建物の一部は、若手のアーティストやデザイナーのスタジオとして安く提供されており、プロダクト、グラフィック、ウェブなどの様々なクリエイターが活動しています。コラボレーション型のプロジェクトが、しやすい環境であるともいえるでしょう。

2008年のミラノサローネのシーズンは、ここ、ゾーナ・ボビーザもフオーリ・サローネの開催ゾーンとなり、現在、イベントや展覧会の企画が進んでいるそうです。

Bovisa, located 10 minutes north of central Milan by train, is a former industrial area in the midst of redevelopment as an art and design district.

In addition to the two academic institutions for design and art, Politecnico di Milano and the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, the area is currently host to the Bovisa Triennial, the so-called art sector of the Milan Triennial, for a limited period of time.

Zona Bovisa is a sister organization to Zona Tortona, organizer of the Tortona district hub of the Saloni Milano's Fuori Salone (events taking place in the city, not at the main site). Recapito Milanese, who presides over the organization, founded the new nonprofit group for its art activities. Zona Bovisa sits adjacent to the Triennial Bovisa and manages reused factory buildings for art, design and music events and unique workshops. The entire operation is supported by sponsor corporations who have furnished the facility and even provided the kitchen. The setup is beneficial for the corporations since they can use the setting for marketing research for new products and testing experimental approaches to product development.

Some buildings on the site are being made available to young artists and designers who have been using them as their studios. A mixed group of product designers, graphic artists and web creators have established their workspaces there, creating an environment that is conducive to collaborative projects.

Zona Bovisa has been designated as one of the sites for Fuori Salone events for the 2008 Saloni Milano season, and plans for events and exhibitions are already underway.
